MnDOT US 59 Worthington Corridor Study

Engaging with community members at a farmer's market event in downtown Worthington.

Highway 59 is a primary route through the commercial district of Worthington, Minnesota. The corridor is slated for reconstruction, and MnDOT and the city are working to to develop a long-term vision for its future.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, CDG contributed to the corridor vision and purpose, multimodal corridor considerations (focusing on improving pedestrian and bicycle orientation for the corridor), and planning and implementation of public engagement activities, including written and spoken Spanish translation (about one third of the city's population is of Hispanic / Latino origin).

The project was recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Community Engagement Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the American Planning Association.
