New Ulm, located just 90 miles southwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul, is a thriving community of 14,000 people with a historic downtown, a strong sense of culture and heritage, prosperous and growing industry, and nationally-recognized attractions.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, CDG is leading efforts to develop the City's new Comprehensive Plan, which also includes four small area plans for key locations in the community, including its Downtown as well as new residential and industrial areas.
CDG developed and led a set of Rapid Planning Design Workshops, held over four days, to engage the City's residents and quickly develop concepts and alternative scenarios for all four sites.
The vision and concepts developed for the sites will orient the Comprehensive Plan's overall direction, and help test the Plan's recommendations by providing specific sites for applying its guidance.
We are currently working with our project partners to continue refining the site concepts and develop the overall Plan.
Work on the Plan started in May 2022 and is expected to conclude in October 2023.
