Carrie Christensen, MLA joins firm

Community Design Group welcomes Carrie Christensen, MLA as the latest addition to our team. With a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Minnesota and a BA in Urban Studies from Stanford University, Carrie is an innovative systems thinker focusing her work on the intersections of sustainability, landscape architecture, community engagement, and design. Her varied experience, which ranges from working in Slovakia as a Fulbright Scholar, in Mexico as a public health volunteer, and writing about Bus Rapid Transit projects in the Twin Cities, adds a wide range of talents to our team. Colin Harris, P.E. joins firm

Community Design Group welcomes Colin Harris, P.E. to our team. Colin comes to us from Seattle, Washington, where he worked in a variety of roadway, site development and drainage projects, and was responsible for design of structures and facilities, and preparation of final contruction documents and specifications.

Colin is a licensed Professional Engineer in Minnesota and Washington, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. More >

CDG at Form+Content Gallery

Community Design Group was invited to participate as one of eight multi-disciplinary teams investigating and responding to the ongoing housing crisis. Our entry, "Eutectic Autarkies," was part of "Unbundling the Housing Crisis," a collaborative exhibition at Form + Content Gallery in the Minneapolis Warehouse District. More >

Collaborative project with PYC School

Community Design Group Director Antonio Rosell, P.E. completed a collaborative design project with 11th and 12th grade students at Plymouth Youth Center (PYC) School, an alternative school in Minneapolis. Working at an intense pace during six weeks, this project explored the history, issues and methods of urban planning, and developed students' skills with tools used in urban planning work. More >

CDG presents at Solutions Volume 3

Community Design Group Director Antonio Rosell, P.E. presented at "Solutions Volume 3," a celebration of ideas from Twin Cities designers, artists, activists and progressive thinkers. This outdoor evening of short, rapid-fire, media-rich presentations featured a cross section of local individuals and organizations whose work is providing real-world solutions to real-world challenges. With exciting presentations, live music, great food, and refreshing drinks, this dynamic event entertained and inspired. More >

We have moved! Our new location, in the Colonial Warehouse building in the heart of the Minneapolis Warehouse District, is easily accessible by bus, bike and car, and will allow us to better serve our clients and friends. Minneapolis adopts Small Area Plan

On Friday March 21 2008 the Minneapolis City Council unanimously voted to approve and adopt the 38th Street and Chicago Avenue Small Area / Corridor Framework Plan. The Plan, prepared for Bancroft, Bryant, Central, and Powderhorn Park neighborhoods, will be incorporated into the City's new Comprehensive Plan and help guide City of Minneapolis policies for the area. Star Tribune features Edina Bicycle Plan

The Thursday November 22 edition of the Star Tribune included an article on the recently completed City of Edina Comprehensive Bicycle Transportation Plan. The article provides an excellent overview of the Plan and its recommendations for Edina.

Edina Bicycle Transportation Plan completed

On Monday September 24 Community Design Group delivered to the City of Edina the final draft of the City's new Comprehensive Bicycle Transportation Plan.

The Plan, which envisions a fine-grained network of bicycle routes throughout Edina, aims to provide Edina's citizens easy, safe and convenient connections to schools, parks, shopping and entertainment, as well as access to regional bicycle transportation and recreation routes.

The Plan is currently going through the City of Edina's review process for potential adoption into the City's 2008 Comprehensive Plan. More >

Garden cooperative opens

Urban Earth, a new flower and garden cooperative, is open for business in South Minneapolis. We provided public outreach and visioning, market and feasibility studies, and membership development services to support the creation of this resident-led community-owned business. More >

Lyn-Lake Visioning

We presented and led a visioning and design workshop for Lake Street and Lyndale Avenue in South Minneapolis. The workshop, sponsored by Calhoun Area Residents Action Group (CARAG) and Streets for People, was aimed at finding the long-term preferences for this intersection from businesses and residents.
